This weekend passed by pretty fast, yet it was rather eventful for me.

Friday night - Went to Chinatown KTV with the bunch of SIM colleagues. Didn't sing much cos wasn't in the mood actually. But rather enjoyed the short but meaningful gathering, cos everyone was present!!! =)

Saturday - Went East Coast Park with dearie. A nice retreat from the hustle and bustle. Check out the entry below!

Sunday..

Went for casting(audition) for some advertisement photoshoot. Blah. Just happened to chance upon some website few days ago stating they looking for models for some photoshoot so I decided to send in an application. Then I was shortlisted. So I drove all the way down to Serangoon North there with dearie. I was given some instructions to follow, asking me to act like a working executive while my tie is being pulled by some "sexy" lady? Hahaha. That's funny. Cos when I went into the studio room, there was only one photographer there. And it's a guy. So he asked me to do a few poses and expression of "struggling" when my "tie" is being pulled. Hahaha. It's like one-man-show. Quite fun? I don't know. But well, definitely some exposure of how's a casting's like, except this one's quite a let down.(The venue and everything seems kinda sleazy) But let's see how it goes.

*****
Ok. That's about it for the weekend's happening. Now to welcome a brand new week. Can't afford to waste anymore time. Guess I'm going full-force into job-hunting again. I need a regular source of income. Especially to pay for my car's petrol and everything. The prices are crazy man. So I need a GOOD job with a GOOD pay.
Speaking of which, 1 more day to PAY day for last month's work! And not to forget the extra $2o0 from the govt. Needa put it to wise use though! Time to save as well!

Guess What?

I bought a GUESS bag yesterday. A messenger sling bag. One which I saw 2 weeks ago at Paragon. I didn't get it that time as I was still contemplating. And then when I went back last week, it was gone! For days, I've been thinking of the bag, since I'm also looking for a bag for my work and school use. I decided to head back to Paragon yesterday(since I was in town anyway). Didn't see it on display, much to my dismay. I was hesitating whether to approach the counter staff for assistance and was prepared to be let down. I was thinking it is such a nice bag, must have been grabbed off the shelves for good. And then I decided to ask. Out came the staff with one LAST bag left. And here is it. =)

You can imagine how happy I was getting it! It costs around $127, which I think was well worth for a brand like this.

I splurged quite a bit on books recently too. Getting all hyped up with my passion for reading and writing. Getting all geared up for my new academics. I know I know I should haven't have spent so much. But I can't help it when it comes to books. Sometimes, passion triumphs over price, don't you think so?

*****

What did I buy recently? (Estimated prices)

An extremely nice journal book(really!). $25

Another quite nice journal book. $14

The Edge Chronicles: Twig Twilogy(hooked to the series a few years back). $34

The Extreme Future(Need to start reading up into what's changing you know): $27

Guess messenger sling bag(Enough said!): $127

*****

Of course, all prices are subjected to some discounts. But still, it burnt a big hole on my pockets!

And having said that, I need to pay the "price" now. That means? Looking for a new job. I just noticed a media job on the Classifieds. Just applied for it. And I'm very very excited. Let's say, or let's pray I get it just the way I got my Guess bag!

Who's up for the guessing game anyway? =P

Oh, and by the way, my new car Toyota Vios has arrived today. =)

The Chronicles of temp work at UniSIM - dedicated to my wonderful temp colleagues.

Alas, my temp job contract at UniSIM has come to an end. And I'm not saying this on a happy note. Believe it or not, I actually feel a deep surge of emotions going through me as I type this right now. I remember how I got this job through the agency. I was initially reluctant to pick up this temp job since I wanted a permanent job. But I guess it was fate that brought me to know these wonderful colleagues, 9 of whom are temp staff too.

Hereby, I dedicate this entry to all of you guys.

Kelvin Ng, my supervisor. My first impression of you was that you looked really "cute"(not in that sense ah!). But really, you look young and adorable for your age. Can't believe you are older than me by 3 years old! Anyway, thanks a lot for being such a super nice supervisor. Still remember how you always take good care of me under your supervision, giving in to my mistakes and all that. Thanks for the treat at Wine Hut, really generous of you! I don't think it's easy to have such a supervisor like you to come by in any other job, cos you really connect with us, being in our age group, like a big brother to all of us. Thanks for all that man. :)

That brings us to the next Kelvin, Kelvin Yip aka "meow". My first impression of you was that you looked franctic but enormously excited with your new job. And that proves so for time come. Still remember how you came to talk to me the first time. And boy, this guy really ran the whole show, like the second supervisor(replacing my seniority haha. jk). And your "meowings" would not be forgotten. And of cos, not to mention those shrieks and poses you made. Haha.

And here's Chin Hian. My first impression of you is that you are really very quiet, as compared to the rest. But realised we could still talk quite a bit. Know that you are super smart in your studies, and have a keen hobby in rearing fishes, which is really quite cool. Thanks for being a part of the group and joining the watching of "jackass" too! Haha.

Ah Guan!! Realised I don't have a pic of you taken with me. So I chose this "fa guang" pic of you! Hope you don't mind ya? Looks nice anyway. So cheerful! Haha. Anyway, you are just the "Mr Nice" of the group la. Everything also happy-go-lucky de. Helpful also. Still remember when I first heard you sing under your breath, I knew you could sing. And boy was I right when we went to KBOX, you really impressed me with that "Li Sheng Jie" voice! Thanks for the numerous chit-chat sessions back in office, or even laughing at my nonsense! Really nice to have you as a friend. =D

Hey Eric! My first impression of you was that you were very bold in your dress sense. From the first day you wore that formal office suit, I knew that this guy has something up his sleeves. Liked your sense of fashion, and noticed you always like to match colours, be it your shoes and shirt. Anyway, I liked your straightforwardness and the way you speak in Mandarin. Very clear pronounciation. Haha. Thanks for being so much of a part to the group, and always snapping photos and videos of us even when we were walking! Those videos must be precious memories to be kept! =)

ChongHui! Dude! You are the guy that brought me out of my "loneliness" back when I was still "single" back in office. Work life was pretty boring back then until you joined. Then we could click almost instantly. You are a really nice guy, humble and always listening. One thing I admire about you is your courage(well you should know in what sense. :P) Thanks for sharing with me so much about your life and your ambition. Good luck in the academy ok? Must always remember what I told you aye? Every perspiration is for your loved ones. Tough times don't last, tough men do. You take care dude! :)

Edwin 'zeh zeh'!!! You are such a colorful character to add on to the group, seriously. Your high pitch voice makes talking to you quite an interesting experience. And you can sing pretty well too! Haha, thanks for always crapping with me. Do remember to "meet your clients" regularly ya? LOL. Jk. Liked your fanciful t-shirts, especially every Friday when it's casual day and you would add a splash to your colorful outfits! Cool! Keep smiling always. And hey, what's up with that Malaysian accent? Hahaha.

ALI!!! HAhaha. Don't know why but kind of associated you with that name already, even though your name's Alan. You are yet another interesting character in the group man. Without you, I don't think "Siti" have someone to crap to. Haha. you two just very funny la, calling each other names. Thanks for always accompanying me around ya. See you like always so happy too. Must be because of my presence right? Haha. But thanks for what you said to me. Hope I have brightened up your days too. =D

Peijun! The most "girl" in the group though there are only 2 of you. Haha. I say this cos you really very "girl" la. What a coincidence that your sis was from JJC too. But anyway, my first impression of you was "Wah, your face always so red and blushy one hor". Haha. And I would always remember what you said about your hair being your most precious asset. Diao. K la, don't have to be too vain ya. Thanks for always laughing at my jokes, and sometimes giving me some friendly punches here and there. And also for calling me "Astro Boy"!! Haha. Heard you have a busy schedule. Do take care of yourself ya? :)

Ah Liang!!! You know what's my first impression of you? Your LAUGHTER. Yes. I remember the first time I spoke when you guys came over, I said "I'm their supervisor", you responded with a laugh. From then on, realised that you are really chatty, which is well, both good and bad? Hahaha jk. But really, you brought "life" to the whole group with your loud voice and laughter. And your "Hello", really very memorable. Thanks for always laughing with me, joining me in the "studio", singing away crazily with me, those duets, haha. And also showing your concern whenever you saw me "emo-ing". Haha. Will really miss you man. Spread your laughter and happy-go-luckiness to all around you yeah? =D

Some pics we took along this incredible, wonderful journey together...

As I mentioned, temp job, but not temp friendship. =)

And here's my big wide SMILE to each and every single one of you. Thanks for making my experience in UniSIM such a pleasant and memorable one. Wish you guys all the best in whatever you do. Do keep in contact k? :):):)

Here I am, right smack in our usual office room, on the last day of work at UniSIM. Here I am, reporting 'live' of every single detail and every raw emotion that is going through me right now.

Bored.
Entertained.
Confused.
Hysterical.
Happy.
Unhappy.
Restless.
Reluctant.

Yes, reluctance must be what I'm feeling right now. Reluctant to let go. These few weeks, though temporarily, have been a very memorable work experience for me. Temporary work, but not temporary friendship, I believe.

Few more hours to go. .

The dawn of a new thought.

My temp job at UniSim is coming to an end, and this spells the start of school at UniSim soon. I don't know why but recently there's a inner struggle whether I can cope with what's coming up next. Am I able to find a good job? Should I persue my dreams? Can I juggle studies and job well? It's like a fear building up within me.

I really need to kill the procrastination that's attempting to take over me. Like really. And I really ought to be more determined and resourceful when it comes to finding opportunities and fighting for my wants.

Listen. Believe.

My 2 favourite words. Now there's a new word to add to my list.

Realise.
Review & Ruminations - Into the Wild

I just finished watching the movie "Into the Wild" directed by Sean Penn. It had to be one of the most emotional lone-traveller kind of movies I have ever watched. And it was based on a true story. It depicts the journey of Alexander Supertramp(Emile Hirsch). A journey into self-discovery, into self-realization, into the wild. I could not say enough about this movie except that it was exceptionally moving.

A young man, yearning to break free from the confinements of society, of parents, or hypocrites, of politicians, of lies. Hence, he set off to his destination Alaska on a near to 2-year journey, going to various places along the way, and meeting new people during his quest. Defeated by his parents who were the main cause for his decision to live a life of his own out there, he stepped on a never-return journey on the hope of achieving what he really wanted - emancipation and happiness. His strong disapproval in the cruelty and unequivocal system of the society, of how mundane society had shaped him to become, of how trapped he felt in the societal cage echoed his choice of heading into the wild, thus finding his own identity.

The movie is dictated by words, which played an inevitable and dominant role in portraying the inner feelings of Alex. The whole journey of Alex was summarised in point forms in his own diary. As short as the points seemed, the larger pictures were often painted in front of the audience. Sean Penn is genius in making this 2 hour 20 plus minute movie seemed not like a drag, but one that seemed to escalate into its real theme in a stylish yet gradual manner, tugging at the heartstrings, making it seem like it's fine to go ahead to marvel and cringe at the journey and plight of Alex towards the end. The 2 hour plus movie ended on a sad note. But there was a realization which he achieved at the very end.

Happiness is real only when shared.

All in all, Sean Penn did a great job with the cinematography of the movie, making it so raw yet so surreal. And Emile Hirsch was a fine actor, probably the best candidate to suit the role. I especially loved the music and soundtracks in the movie, which blended in exceptionally well. Also, the many many quotes in the movie were inspiring and provocative.

"If I were smiling and running into your arms, can you see by then what I see now?"

At least he found forgiveness at last.

My rating: 4.5/5

For serious movie lovers. I mean those who like "serious" movies. And also those who are seriously movie lovers. Seriously.

Brand-Me? Brand-Me-Not!

Watched Sex & The City movie with dearie last night. Thought it was another chick flick, but it ended up being that's wrapped with layers and layers of colourful ribbons, and decorated with crayons. =P Didn't disappoint at all, especially with the witty dialogues which I absolutely loved! And it was definitely a feast for the eyes, looking at the splashes of colours from the high-end fashionistas in the movie. I liked the emotions depicted in the movie, how love and relationships can be another ribbon-wrapped-up-box hidden beneath layers of confetti. Except for the promiscuity that's linked to high-end rich "tai-tais" in the movie, which was quite exaggerated and blown over the top, I thought the other bits of raw emotions developed by the characters were very well portrayed.

Besides, the movie was like an ambassador for lavish, can-only-wished-for brands like Louis Vuitton. It was like an extravaganza of all the high-end brands that average folks can only dream of. Speaking of brands, the society is evolving into one that has been revolving around brands. People are judged by what they wear. In fact, we are fast becoming "walking advertisements". It's inevitable but true. In a society like Singapore, where we are being influenced heavily by Western culture, it is not hard to notice people carrying Guess clutches, Louis Vuitton handbags on the MRT. Well, maybe they are not necessary genuine. But at least, brands like these already kicked in an impression in the masses. And the message is clear. "Wearing or carrying it makes you an upper class member".

Personally, as much as I hate labels, I have to admit that branded stuff does get me tempted at times. Definitely I'm not looking into Hugo Boss stuff yet, but brands like Zara, Guess and Calvin Klein are still quite attainable if I'm willing to slog my ass off in return for more moolah. You see, I have this tendency to think that I'm getting old!(Even though I look like 12) There's no way I can still be shopping for clothes at Bugis street. I need to give street wear a miss if we're talking about making impressions. You see, impressions do count. Be it in the coporate world or meeting new acquaintances at a social event. Nevertheless, it should never be an obsession to go for branded goods. Satisfaction is necessary before it is guaranteed.

Having said that, it does not mean I'm going to forgo my singlets or bermudas and slippers for good. Admist a wardrobe of long sleeves shirts and pants, there is always a collection of casual apparels - labelless as they may seem. Street wear, whatever. You see, I need a sticky note to remind me of my youth. :)

Weekend Rush

Hey people! It's Sunday! Usually I dislike Sundays. Previously, it was because I had to book in back to camp in the evening. Now? Dread of tuition during the evening. And because tomorrow's start of work again. However, today's a bit special. Cos I'm not having tuition tonight!!! And I can't wait to go back work tomorrow and cherish the last 2 weeks or so of temp work. Really, it's rare to see me so spontaneous about work. Lol.

Last night, was at dearie's place for dinner and gathering with her family and some of her cousins, aunts and uncles. As usual, I didn't talk much. I guess in a way, I'm passive towards people I'm related to, in such a sense. I can talk perfectly well to complete strangers. But I'm a softie when it comes to close-related connections. Perhaps I feel guarded in a way, perhaps I feel over-conscious about how they would think of me? So yes, it's that kind of pressure I impose on myself, though I'm already trying to change and open up myself under such circumstances.

Anyway, I watched the final match of Roland Garros' women's singles final between Safina and Ana Ivanovic. It must be the first time I really sat down to watch a full tennis match - a sport still relatively new to me. But I guess I really enjoyed watching the match. Ana was just superb in her craft and very skilful. And I thought she looked radiant with that tan and just all pretty and sporty.

Speaking of sports, I haven't been exercising for a long time. Argh, I lost the discipline I had during NS when I would always make it a point to go running at night. But now, my energy level has decreased quite a bit. Getting tired easily. I guess I really have to start build up the momentum again!

Anyway, wanted to catch Euro2008. But still have to pay an extra sum for the channels, even though I already have Sports group on cable. That sucks.

Never mind. I'm going GSS shopping with dearie soon. Not that I really like to shop, but who doesn't like great bargains? And it's been a long time since I really buy something I like. It's time baby! =D

It is wonderful to feel all so young again. Especially with fun-loving colleagues like these. It's hard not to be tempted to unleash that child in you. As said, all work but no play makes Jack a dull boy. I don't want to be Jack though. I don't want to abide to that saying and find myself restricted by the boundaries that has been set. This job has been awesome so far. Haha these colleagues are the coolest!

Emo pic! From left: Chin Hian, Eric, ChongHui, Chunliang and me.

Here's a series of group-taking pics. :)

See? Office job's not neccessary to be boring. You just need how to spice it up with laughter, craze, enthusiasm, and last but not least, DEDICATION and PASSION! Hahahahaha.
More pics coming up. Highlight is last night's dinner outing together at Robertson Quay's The Wine Hut. Will update once I get those pics! :)
