Trauma Drama vs Movers Lovers
Ladies and gentlemen, let me share a little true life account, or rather, a little adventure I had today, or yesterday, doesn't matter.
Dearie and I met to go town in the late afternoon. So she initiated to drive out today. She picked me up from my house and we were off. She had wanted to pump up the tires of her car since her brother said that one of the tires had flattened. So we dropped by Caltex. And I learnt a little easy lesson of pumping up the air in the car. After we pumped up all 4 tires, including the flattened one, we left for town.
We were along the expressway near Toh Guan rd when I noticed that the car was vibrating abnormally. And I thought something was amiss. So I told dearie about it and she concurred that something was wrong with the car. So we decided to stop by the road shoulder to have a look. When I alighted from the car, what I saw shocked me. The thought-to-be flattened tyre had burst and was in a pathetic condition. It was like heavily worn off, leaving with a last coat of rubber surrounding the metal wheel plate. I tried to stay calm though we were both a bit panicky. I tried calling my sis' bf to ask him if he could help out with changing the tyre since there's a spare tyre at the car's boot. I mean, I have changed artillery guns' tires before but certainly not a real vehicle like that. But I thought it might be a rather hassle free task, except that I could not find a jack to lift the car. Meanwhile, dearie called her dad and he warned us to stay in the car due to the heavy traffic. He wanted to come down to check things out. Minutes later, a private tow car arrived, together with 2 uncles who offered to help. So they towed us to the nearest vehicle repair centre at Bukit Batok while we sat in the car in an opposite manner, us being towed. Lol. All in all, we paid 30 bucks for the towing and 30 bucks for the change of the tyre. And we were on the road again. Headed to town and we had a quick meal at Wheelock's place's Fish & Co. before watching a movie at Lido.
Here's what I took away from what had happened. I was glad that at the event the incident took place, I was with her. And she was with me. And we crossed over this little hurdle by ourselves. Honestly this was the first ever time I encountered something like this. It was an ordeal alright. But when two are there for each other, no matter what happens, an ordeal could actually be evolved into an ideal. Isn't it?
A relationship can be compared to driving a car. If you are the driver, you can control your vehicle. If you start out as a newbie, things may occasionally go wrong since you are inexperienced. So you might encounter "scratches" along the way. However, that should never stop you from moving ahead. Always look out for direction signboards, and warning signs. And never speed. Never rush into things. You may lose your way sometimes, but there are always direction boards to guide you along. So never fret. If things go wrong, there's always a U-turn. Isn't it? There may be obstacles along the way to hinder your path, so you need to stay alert and be flexible enough. Be sensitive, in other words. The one key word is to LEARN. And most importantly, have FAITH.
I may be driving for a year plus, but I have to admit there are still things I need to learn. So likewise, in a relationship, as long as there's road ahead, keep on driving. There are still many roads I have yet to explore. So one may see it as an adventure. But it is a long journey ahead. If your car's run out of petrol, you just need to pump in more to keep it going. And so, for a relationship, "pump" in some confidence and trust. Ultimately, love is the power to run the engine, to keep it going. So keep the passion burning.
On a cheeky note, always put on your "safety" belts. Haha.
By the way, I checked out a figurine shop today selling lots of toy models of cars. And I'm so intrigued by the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. My favourite. It's awesome.
Next time you decide to go for some movie drive-in, don't forget your popcorn. And of course, do check your tyres. And if everything's functioning alright, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Don't watch Fast and Furious though.
Now I'm seeing more roads ahead. And I'm inspired and intrigued. Vroom vroom...

I hope pumping tyres are really fun. Haven done it before, and think that I will end up doing that in future. So funny, to sit in a car and being towed.. Must have been a new fun experience.
I like yr analogy that a relationship is like driving. I gotta learn that. I still think that I am a sucky driver.
Hehe keep on driving!!
