Pre-exam syndrome

So yeah, it's the time of the year again, where everyone is busy mugging or cramming, or burning midnight oil(i wonder who created this saying). I guess the exam period is not very welcomed by all, knowing that it's near the end of the year.

SO, what's your pre-exam symptoms?
Do you find yourself

-Perspiring profusely?
-Straining your eyes at the texts due to too much readings?
-Plucking your hair/eyebrow/armpit's uncontrollably/Digging your nose without notice?
-Having the urge to bang your head on the table?
-Fidgeting restlessly(or jumping from table to table)?
-Speaking with noises like grunts and snorts in between each phrase?
-Smiling for no reason?
-Looking out of the window whenever you hear a vehicle go by(well, you must be very very busy!)?
-Saying "Bye" instead of "Hello" each time you pick up a phone call?

If so, please seek medical/non-medical/half-medical-half-non-medical help immediately.

Ok. Relax. I'm kidding.

You should realise that above symptoms are probably normal. I guess everyone else have probably unique symptoms. It's funny how the exams can be such a great catalyst for you to start experiencing stuff you have never really experienced in your usual routine, eh?

You're not alone.

Woot!

I just got another tuition assignment. That makes my current student count to 4, if that 2 lil brats don't opt out due to the coming holidays. But anyway, it's good. That means I am finally STARTING to feel busy. Hahaha. After so long, I know. I tried slapping myself already.

Besides that, some real estate company guy called me up regarding a job which I didn't send my resume earlier to him when he requested. But well, fancy calling me back after 2 weeks just for me to send my resume? I think..

1)Either his company is too desperate for more help
2)Or... by recruiting me he gets more commission without any heck whether I am some quality employee(which I thought I am of course! lol)

Can't help to be skeptical though... Let's just see he calls me up for an interview.

Then again, it's not property agent, as I was thinking along that line. He said it's some kind of sales job. Train to be some sales manager? Me? Sales manager? Hahaha. I can REALLY imagine that. OK.

Oh, and I tried the food at Botak Jones for the first time. At Clementi there. Oooh. I would say it's really not bad. Not bad at all. I ordered Cajun Chicken set while dearie ordered Fish & Chips. Except for the 'kopitiam' environment(which I thought they could always open a posh restaurant instead) which was probably to cut rental cost and bring up their revenue(Wah, my economics knowledge put into good use), the food is good!

And I just realised I have a 3000-words essay to be done by Thursday. And I was still thinking it was manageable when I have never written a 3000-words assignment before.

This post ends with Chao feeling a sense of urgency.............

What follows next?
To be continued...
Still awake..
Ok, I'm blogging this late in the night.. 2.30am.. not that I have a need to blog on anything important, just that I thought I should leave an entry before I go to bed. Haha.
So anyway, here's some pics taken recently. Yeah I know, pics again! Woohoo!

Last Wednesday, went to this Jap Restaurant at Riverview Hotel with my family and dearie. The food was not bad but wasn't as good as what my mum claimed to be.

I liked this starter for the meal. Nice, cold and tender salmon on smooth toufu.

Saturday: Steamboat at dearie's place.. Qianying's bday mini gathering...

The cookies & cream ice-cream cake we bought at Island Creamery @ Serene Centre! Very delicious! And looks cute too. Haha.

Happy 18th in advance xiaoyingnie! =D

As for today, went to MadJack restaurant at Bukit Timah rd.. Couple of snapshots from Qianying's LGViewty camera..

Haha.. dearie's not entertained at all.. But I was! =

Cool pic with the frames.. haha.. Smiling by myself again.. muahaha.

After which, we went to Island Creamery yet again!

Parked my car at B1 and I noticed this funny lift indicator. "-1" means B1. Lol. Freaky.

My new favourite dessert! Mini Baked Alaska. So you want a slice of Alaska? What's inside: Whipped cream, strawberry and vanilla ice-cream, egg sponge cake.. Yummy!

The Mudpie was nice too! Thick and chocolatey! =D

And that's Qianying! All smiles at the thought of eating the dessert huh!

We took lots more wacky pics after that but it's in her mobile.. so well.. haha..

On another note,

Dearie and I have now officially passed the 17 months mark of being together!

Dearie,

Happy 17 months~ and going~!! \(^-^)/

I'm still a student after all. That makes me feel so young. Ooh lah lah.

Ok, ignore my title.

Watched High School Musical 3 with dearie on its premiere day. It is a must watch I must say, especially since I have watched part 1 and 2. But I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the saga though. But the 3rd installment is great, with all the props, colours, choreography of the dances and music. Overall, rather entertaining. But to me, it's no where near the standard of a good musical movie. Cos it takes more than just a couple of dance moves and singing to be at the top notch. Nevertheless, worth a watch.

On another note, just when I thought I would like to focus more on getting a job and getting more income, I realised all of a sudden that something important is looming right ahead. Yes, I am talking about every student's worst nightmare...

EXAMS!!!

And guess what? Not only that, I still have a 3000 words essay to write on a film that I studied. Thanks to the Film Art module I took.

So far, I'm relieved I managed to pass all my assignments, scoring 60 and above for most, one 79 and one 88. The thing is I don't study by the books. I guess it's more of impromptu work since I always tend to cram assignments just before the dateline. And yeah, it's happening to my exams now too! 10 more days to go for my first paper, and my preparation level is probably 20% as of now? Lol.

Never mind. I'm so telling myself this:

DON'T BE STRESSED, CHAO. DON'T BE.

Anyway, I don't really have to tell myself that. My family members think I'm not stressed at all cos they did not see me studying at all. Well, as a matter of fact, I barely touched my books and notes ever since school started. So right now, it's cramming time!!! I used the word "cramming" instead of "mugging" cos I don't see why people keep using the word "mugging". Is it some sort of slang? Or do you actually have a mug beside you when you study? Anyway, I didn't bother to check out the dictionary if such a word exists. Hahaha.

Anyway, I can't wait for the papers to be over. Cos I have a bigger task at hand now. Yeah. Dad just told me of a new business venture. Guess it's high time I polish up myself in all aspects and get prepared to face the new challenges that lie ahead!

And now, for some random pics!

Taken in front of my mirror.. Nice colours.. oooh won't you just look at the pokka dot stickies! Haha I like the retro effect. =P

Just taken recently in my room. Look at dearie ah, looks like she's having the same height right.. Haha.. Ya she's happy about it.. Anyway, smileys all around. =D

Dearie looked so pretty in this pic ya? Nice curls, nice smile.. Taken at Suki Sushi at Cineleisure where we had sushi buffet!

Ok. That's me in a self-taken pic. Taken out of boredom ah. Don't laugh hor! =X Anyway, dearie said it looks like the pic below which was taken back in 2006, before she knew me! Haha, that pic was in my wholivesnearyou profile. Back then I was still in army. Looked so tanned sia. She said it looked very 'fierce'.

From under the cap: *ROAR!!!*

Alright, it's late. I have 2 choices now. No. 1 Go study! No. 2 Go sleep! My choice is clearly number 2. Cramming late into the night is definitely not my style. I always tell dearie this, I personally dislike the morning sunshine to peek into my room too soon. So I can't get enough of the tranquility of the night.
Besides, dearie's sleeping soundly now. She'll be wanting to meet me in bunbun land soon! Right, love?
This entry shall end with a smile. =)

More chronicles of the desperate job-seeker.

As I was mentioning about my job hunt process in my previous posts, I went for YET another job interview yesterday. It was very impromptu. I was flipping through the classified section of the papers around noon, and the next thing I know, I was called down for interview in the afternoon. I saw the $3800 in bold on the advertisement space. Some sales consultant job, and something to do with travel. Well, the pragmatic side of me just decided to go for it.

So I drove all the way to Bugis area. It was the don't know how many-th time I was dressed smartly and appearing for a job interview only to find out that it was yet another saikang kind of job. Dude. The basic is only $1000? And that's for the 1st month only. After that it's back to full commission based. Damn. I still remember the previous interview I went for. $1700 basic + $300 transport allowance. Sounds like a good deal eh? And what's the job scope? Promote air-purifiers.

Instantly turned off. I was. I didn't even need to bother about the money.

Seriously, I can't imagine myself going from door to door and saying "Hi Madm, would you like to try our LATEST, NEWEST, most INNOVATIVE air-purifier product that can help you clean up every inch, every corner, and every speck of your house?"

That's SOOOO NOT me.

I have to admit, I used to think I love doing sales until I find it kinda tiring and you really have to be that kind of on-the-ball every minute/second to make sure you achieve your targets. If not, you can go "eat yourself". Lol.

For me, I don't really like the idea of wearing a mask each time when I have to approach people. I prefer to be more down-to-earth. Just give me a stable job man. Anything with good experience will do.

I'm not fussy. $10K a month will do. HAHA.

On another note, I woke up to a piece of good news. I now have 1 more new tuition assignment. Yay! And the pay is GOOD. And it's just walking distance.

SPUR ON Mr Ong!!! ><"

When slacking needs a break.

Watched House Bunny today.
Super retarded.
Super funny.
Super "spicy".

And it's a super-duper bimbotic chick flick can. But I'm not complaining. Pretty decent chick flick though. Laughed out loud during most parts of the show. Anna Faris is simply irritatingly-bimbotic in that show. Watched her in Scary Movie 4, and I thought she really could put up a straight face while acting lame. That's really something eh.

Heh.

On another more serious note,

I can't believe it. I'm f***ing jobless for 5 months or so! I've been to a few interviews, to which either

a) the workplace sucks
b) the employers looked like they suck
c) the pay sucks
d) the job scope sucks
e) all of the above suck

So yeah, pretty much option 'e'.

I can't believe it. An 'A' level cert seems to be going nowhere. Other than admin and sales, I think the rest of the other jobs probably needs a diploma or a degree. For goodness sake. I know I lacked the experience that many diploma holders probably got from their school attachments. But that doesn't mean I can't do a job well. And stop making me regret that I should have gone to poly in the first place! Whatever. Seriously.

Ok. Maybe I could have been more pro-active in the job search process and less fussy. I don't know. What do you think?

Anyway, my first semester is pretty much ending soon, with only the exam papers to tackle in November. And I haven't studied yet! Can you believe it? I have not laid a finger on my notes! Hahahaha. I believe in open-mind studying and not scrutinizing the texts though. That means, understanding the texts with an open-mind and basically just absorbing it in a proactive way. That's how I managed my assignments so far.

I got to learn to be stress-free.
If you need any tips to release your stress, you can ask me. I think slacking is a pretty good way. Other which you can scream, pull your hair, etc. Ok I'm kidding.

Oh. And I still need to bid my new modules for the next semester.

Tata.

A sunshined entry!

Heyhey! Do you know that petrol price has gone down again! Yeah! It's good news! I think it's the 8th or 9th time since it first went down. Oh well, be good, petrol, continue to lower your price! Hahahaha.

Hey peeps. What's up?

Did I mention I bought Travis' latest album, "Ode to J. Smith"? I think it is really fantastic. My favourite album is their "12 memories", which I bought way back in 2003 I think. By far it's the most affecting album I have. "Ode to J. Smith" is another brilliant album, with Fran Healy's vocals still as nice as ever. They are also more experimental on the music and instruments as well. But thank goodness, they still retain that good old Travis flavour which I absolutely adore.
Alright peeps. As mentioned earlier, here are some pics taken from last Sunday's family event carnival at Siloso Beach. Enjoy! =D

Us on our way into Sentosa! Look at the morning sunlight on our faces! Absolutely warmy and refreshing to kickstart our day! Introducing:

Driver: Yours truly
First-class passenger: Dearie =D
Economy-class passengers: Shuang and Ying (lol)

Aww.. won't you look at how the morning sun is peeking through the trees!

Dearie posing at the redemption counter with all the soft toys. Hehe. =D

And that's me! But I think I look a bit "out of the picture" la. I'm not a kid anymore! Waahaha. =p

And as mentioned before, us being in the sandcastle building competition "committee", we judged the results ourselves. Haha.

The 3rd prize! I thought it looked pretty nice and "Roman" for a sandcastle.

The 2nd prize! Haha. At first I just gave a random guess that it was a lobster. Which was quite an insult to the parents I think. Lol. Ok. It's a crab! Crap!

And the 1st prize goes to... *drumrolls*... Yeah. I admit I'm a bit biased on this. But I loved the theme of "heart". Really heartwarming. Lovey. And just alludes to the family notion. And the girls. Cute lil ones. Who can resist to give them the title? Haha.

Here they are! Our small winners of the day! =D

Celebration of good job done! Free Carlsberg beer which we "goped". Wahaha.

And it's party time! =)

Well, let me kickstart the fun with an "unglam" pose! Hahaha.

Dearie posing on a big rock. Photographer? Yours truly. Result? EXCELLENT! Wahaha. =D

I love this photo! Looks like we are sitting on the sand, but we are actually sitting on a big rock.

Ok. Looks like we were at some exquisite beach resort, but hello, here's a reminder. We were at Siloso Beach @ Sentosa! But well, guess it worked pretty well. :P

Me and my sis. Cool? I think I looked cool. Hahah.

Very comfy feel. Therapeutic as well. I like. =D

3 of us said "Cheese!" Well, actually nobody did. Our smiles did. =)

I like this pic that of dearie with her sis. Very natural. And all smiling. =D

I think I looked a bit 'shady' here. Hahaha.

And now.. for the PIC OF THE DAY...

I have received a comment saying this looks like a wedding photo. What do you think? This is by no means taken in a studio. Though I think the effect is there. Just to let you know, the background is REAL. The sun is REAL. The sea is REAL. And one more thing..

The love is REAL. =)

Sunkissed

I find myself stepping back on the familiar soft and warm sands of Sentosa Siloso beach again after just a span of two weeks! However, it was for a good cause now. Heh.

Yep. For the first time in months, I woke up super early on a Sunday morning. Drove all the way to Sentosa with my dearie, ying, and my sis. We were all going to help out for a family day event at Siloso Beach. It was quite a last minute job but it was fun! There were game stalls, volleyball, football competitions and probably everything else you would expect in a family carnival. Well, sorta. Dearie and my job was to oversee the sandcastle competition. It was funny. 20 teams signed up for the event but only around 7 or 8 teams were out there building the sandcastles. The rest were nowhere to be seen after collecting their sandcastle-building fun pack. Avoid the scorching sun eh? Or just to "gope" the free sandcastle kit?

Nevertheless, we got to meet lots of families and many more adorable children. So we were under the hot sun the whole morning. After the event, at around 2pm, we changed to our beach-going casual wear before frolicking on the shores.

Actually, the event part was a bit all-over-the-place. Most of the crew were briefed on the day itself. Ya, everything seemed to look good on the surface. But I guess more could be done to make it more successful.

Well I'm not complaining, since I got 40 bucks at the end of the day, and got quite a nice tan(on my face, neck and arms). Thanks ah.

Will upload the pics soon. Oh yeah.

...And I'm back.

I decide to revive my blog again. It's been one of the longest break from updating this blog ever since I started it I guess. My apologies to those who have been checking it out everyday to find it still the same old last entry! Anyway, I doubt my blog is that interesting to make you so 'glued' to the updates. Haha. But that's definitely what I'll be working towards, maybe?

So it's been a pretty long break. Apart from tuition, occasion job interviews, school and rushing for the recent essays and assignments to be handed in, I'm pretty much still a slacker. Heh. But I've been quite an eventful slacker. If you see my facebook profile, basically there are constant updates of pics! Yep. Here's a brief recap of all the photographic colourful events that have taken place in the past few weeks!

-KTV singing at Chinatown Kster!
- Visit to the zoo!
-Lantern Festival celebration at dearie's place
-Sentosa beach outing!
-More of dearie's bday celebration with me at Clarke Quay!
-Chuanliang's bday gathering at Changi Haven.
-Amei's Star Tour Concert 08!

That's what I remembered so far ah. But I have to say it has been quite eventful. Haha. Here's a few pics to highlight those events!

The above pics are but just a few out of the thousands of pics.. hahaha.. Check out my facebook for them all.

And do check back for more updates! Cya! =D
